Re: Did you know about JE when you joined the fandom?

Was heavily into SMAP first (circa 2000 - 2005). Was there for Kimura marriage and Goro scandal. At that, did not even realize that some of my fave dramas had arashi in it (Kizarazu Cat's Eye, Handoku, Mukodono original) nor did i realize that the show i enjoyed before sata sma was arashi's show (ma...

Re: What book are you currently reading?

Just finished the new J.D Robb book . . . i am invested in Eve and Roarke :). Started reading the series by chance way back in 2006 when I was still working offshore, got hooked. Just finished all of Anne Bishops's The Other books. Waiting for the next installment next month. This was a chance encou...

Re: What TV shows/dramas are you currently watching?

For 2018 winter season quite a bit of drama is catching my interest: 99.99% of course that goes without saying. Kuragehime (feels like beppin san meets asa ga kita, not in story just in charater), kimi ni kokoro ni sumitsuita (warumen mukai osamu is priceless), unnatural (yey to Kubota Masataka), to...

Re: What have you done today?

Friends from Singapore went to IMM for coach sale, i got challenged to see how different the price is from US and there. Turned out that the prices here are half to even better than there. Friends asked me to buy stuff . . . bought it and now shipping is the problem. After shipping via fedex they wi...

Re: The story behind your username

back when i was still studying, my labmate who was acting as the lab IT guy connected all the pcs in the lab and named all the machines after the moons of jupiter. he gave me a list and asked me to pick one, i liked elara and so he named my pc that. back then internet forums where not that prevalent...

Re: What job field do you work in or what do you study?

Field of study was in Applied Physics (undergrad, grad school, but no postdoc), destined for academe . . . Then I got tired of watching old profs and senpais/dohais running after funding so switched to industry (with the intention of returning to academe in 5 years). 12 years later i am still in ind...

Re: Which "Sho" do you like best?

the newscaster and the failing genius . . . i got baited into the sho show by watching him in a suit and tie in ZERO then seeing him in a white shirt with chikubi holes (after failing to run fast enough in that starch and water suspension) in arashi no shukudai kun :D

Re: J-drama recommendations

I would also love recs, namely something similar to Tokyo DOGS if anyone here remembers it? [...] Also some light comedy that's not too silly or over the top would be much appreciated - something lighthearted and fun like Hana Kimi... Have you watched Bitter Blood? It's not exactly like Tokyo DOGS,...

Born in 1975, will be 43 sooner than later :D i became an arashi fan in 2007, a few months after i moved back to japan for work (left japan for work as well). they became my escape form a really demanding work and gave me a bit of balance (those who have worked in japan, particularly in engineering/...

Re: What does your family or friends think about Arashi?

my family knows off arashi and that's about it . . . none of them have lived in japan but they have gone thru my bulk magazine buying at Christmas season before going home . .. they have gone thru my whining of watching Kouhaku instead of going to church on new year's eve. Most importantly they have...

Re: J-drama recommendations

Is it okay to ask for recs? Because now that sakiboku is over, I'd like to find something else to watch that's got the same overall positive feel-good vibes it had. It's hard to match the vibes of sakiboku but there are some that are other school themed and/or feel-good dramas out there. If you are...
